Week of March 2, 2014

Literacy - We focused on the letter Kk, and the shape of the letter. We worked on recognizing words with K sounds, and learned vocabulary words;kangaroo, khanjar, khandora, kite, kitten, ketchup, king, kid, kick. We made kites which the students really enjoyed.
Sight words: the, see, is, here, I, a, up

Numeracy - The focus this week was on measurement. The students were able to measure things with yarn, cube, links, paperclips, as well as use themselves. The students loved measuring things around the class using different lengths of yarn. They would tell me to come look at what they measured, and would try to use words such as long, short, and tall.

Science - We discussed energy in the form of push and pull. The students were asked to push and pull objects, and determine if an object needed to be pushed or pulled.

Reading and Writing - We read a story called How Do Dinosaurs Get Well? The students were asked talk about the pictures, and what they see when looking at the dinosaurs. Some of the students noticed huge claws, long necks, short arms, and noticed huge horns. The students were able to play with dinosaurs in the role play area, and were able to measure a dinosaur footprint using their shoes. The students really enjoyed measuring with their shoes.
