This week went by fast. The students are working hard, and showing improvements in counting and name writing.
Literacy - We focused on the letter Ll, and the shape of the letter. We worked on recognizing words with L sounds, and learned vocabulary words; lion, love, lick, lollipop, lock, librarian, library, leaves, ladder, ladybug, light, lamp, leopard, and lemons.
Sight words: the, see, is, here
Numeracy - We focused on addition by adding two group together to form a whole. We made number stories using students in the class and M&Ms. We used the words altogether, plus, equals, how many, how much, group, sum. I sent home addition math facts last week and I appreciate you working on these number sentences with your child.
Science - We discussed energy and food that gives our body good energy. The students drew pictures of healthy food that would give them lots of energy to complete activities.
Reading and
Writing - We read a story called No, Sid, No! The students were
asked to recall what happened in the story. We talked about feelings of the characters and reenacted those feelings.
Next week we are focusing on:
Literacy: letter Ii
Mathematics: number line up to 10 (will help with addition and subtraction)
Science: Energy (different forms of energy)
